# What is Modal and why does Swegmark use it?

Modal is a semi-synthetic fabric made from beech tree cellulose, softer, stronger, and more shape-retaining than regular viscose. It breathes well, absorbs 50 percent more moisture than cotton, and is gentle on skin that’s become more sensitive over the years.
